Sun(Setter)Day: It’s Okay To NOT Meet The Standard

Hello Fellow Setters,
In my prior post, I shared that I was at the tail end of ‘the need to fit in‘, and how it was time for that need to be starved and forced to be made new. Well, I’m certain that the “time” is now. My tolerance is at an ALL-time low, and I lack the desire and care to meet the standard. And when I say the standard, I mean any standard. Meeting standards feels like people-pleasing, and in this season of my life, that no longer serves me. I’m releasing the obligation to feel like I have to show up in specific and rigid ways to be the perceived standard of what or whomever (huge progress for a former people pleaser). I don’t want to be anyone’s version of what they believe that title, position, or rank is or holds. Often, it’s conditioning that’s been passed down through generations by society. Usually, rooted in insecurities and inadequacies that are never questioned or evolved beyond what has been present (face value). The truth is that some things… many things and people transcend the existing standards. When we get caught up in meeting standards, the rest (things or parts of people) that don’t fit into those standards aren’t accounted for, which leads to overcompensation. Overcompensation for what doesn’t fit feeds the unintegrated parts of the ego, and that takes us further away from who we actually are.

I have never felt fully accounted for within the existing standards that are placed on me. And unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I know there are plenty of others who feel and know the same. I choose to stand tenaciously in the extreme that comes with this aversion to meeting the standard. I choose to shed it, let it go, and transmute it because I refuse to be a slave to anything or anyone in this world. I know I am meant to serve, and the only way I can do that in its absolute form is to be free from anything or anyone that makes me feel like I have to shrink and conform. Servants(spiritual servants) take up space; they learn to set the tone, take form, and create their own waves (way). They trust the guidance that is provided from within and allow their lives to be led by that wisdom.

So if any of you are feeling any form of dissonance with any standards currently in your life, take this as confirmation to challenge it with your discernment. If you know everything is calling for you to stand out, choose to resist the urge and the pressure to give in. Make way for it to be transformed into standards that best suit you and eventually others. I know now that you really can’t be everything to everybody; the desire to be is purely tied to a deep inner knowingness that we are meant to be all of ourselves in every space, state, and relationship we choose to be in (granted, that looks different given the situation). We don’t get to fragment ourselves and believe that we can be of service in our divinity. God (the divine mother and the divine father) is whole. God is oneness. And that’s what we are required to return to and be, wholly.

Okay, I am pausing here for now because I know I will go on a tangent into other spheres of beingness if I don’t. However, I just want you all to know that it’s perfectly okay not to meet the preset standard. Not being able to meet or fit the standard allows you to do things in ways that feel most authentic to you. No need to be “the best” because your best is not only better but what the world truly needs and is waiting on. And only you can give it. As I say this to you all, know that all of this serves as a reminder and reassurance to me. WE are on this journey together. Happy Sunday Setters!!!!! Speaking a blissful, joyous, and peaceful week for you all.

One size does not fit all; some need custom fits.
