Which relationship has taught you the most about yourself?

The relationships that have taught me the most about myself are indeed my romantic relationships/connections. They are the only relationships that we have as humans that can literally test and trigger every fiber of our being while pushing us deeper into ourselves. The only relationship where you can experience a spectrum of other connections/bonds in one: Friend, Lover, “Enemy,” Familial, Associate… etc. The only relationship where no bounds exist on how you can be in love and express it. They defy the conditions and standards we normally try to operate under and set in other connections. Even with effort, you can’t control where love or chaos takes you once in a romantic relationship. The heart has to surrender and expand with the flow. The ego has no choice but to go on trips and try to get creative with maintaining “control.” Both the heart and ego have to cope with how and where the experience takes you within the connection. The real of you and your partner will be shown. Whether it’s what y’all really are or aren’t. Whether it’s what y’all are choosing to be or not. And that applies together and individually. No matter what, the real can’t be escaped. And leaving the relationship to go right into another relationship will only cause you to cycle in the same shit that will more than likely be worse or just as bad as the prior one. Romantic relationships really require and force us to see ourselves beyond our comfort. Being our lessons personified, to evolve the “rational.”
