Some of the most fun / best exercises I have ever done and still do are on the days when I just dance. Just me, music, and whatever feelings are present. It’s one of the most exhilarating experiences you could have at no cost… well, the cost of your physical stamina, ha! Truthfully, though, it’s so worth it to me because I am so immersed in the music and the way that it takes over the movement of my body that I will literally dance until I can’t dance any further. I am almost always pushing my physical limits when I dance, and I know that this is largely due to the transformative and liberating effects it has on me, not only physically but also mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and energetically. I can feel the transmutation and alchemization happening through every second of being in that practice, on all levels. So sacred in the way it cleanses you, yet so empowering in its creation. My confidence is through the roof after each session. It has become such a grounding force for me over the last three years, and I know that it will continue to do so in the years to come. Quick sidenote: Marshall Jefferson was definitely on to something when he created the song Move Your Body. IFYKYK! Furthermore, dancing gets the job done with fun… had to throw a little corniness in the mix, but I’m out.
